Ich war vom 2. Juni bis 8. Juni 2015 Teilnehmer der 11. IAPS Convention ( International Association of Pastel Societies) in Albuquerque, New Mexico. Ich selbst bin Mitglied der Pastel Guild of Europe. Mit Bedauern stellt man bei einem so internationalen Treffen fest, das nur zwei deutsche Teilnehmer vertreten waren. Und dies obwohl sich in Deutschland viele Künstler sich mit Pastellmalerei oder Zeichnung beschäftigen.
Ich selbst führe ebenfalls Pastell-Workshops hier in Bonn durch.
Die IAPS fordert Künstler auf Mitglied in einem Pastell Verein zu werden oder selbst einen Verein zu gründen: "Start a Pastel Society"
Das Interesse hierfür möchte ich gern ermitteln, die organisatorische Voraussetzungen will ich gern übernehmen. Fritz Engelhardt mailto:info@atelier-engelhardt.de

I. HOW TO BEGIN A PASTEL SOCIETY
A. Find other interested artists in your area:
1. Contact Arts organizations, arts councils, art centers, art schools, art galleries, art museums,
art societies, and local art supply stores
2. Run advertisements for local artist in local newspapers or tabloids
3. Post on your facebook page, LinkedIn, blog, or other social media site.
B. When you have artist contacts:
1. Invite them to a get-together and explain reasons for getting together as a pastel society, such as
society membership shows, national exhibitions, plein air painting, critiques, sketch with models,
still life painting, etc.
2. Decide where to meet: private homes, art centers, or for on location painting areas (plein air)
C. As your group grows:
1. Arrange exhibitions at local venues in your area, such as restaurants, libraries, art centers, schools,
churches, community centers, etc.
D. Set up a meeting with your group to choose an Interim Board of Directors
(For advice on first steps to organizing you may contact Claudia Seymour, IAPS Membership Chair)
1. Board of Directors should include President, Vice President, Secretary and Treasurer
2. All the above officers should be elected when group is established
E. Decide on membership requirements
1. Decide on number of meetings per year
2. Create a mission statement to include the promotion and education of pastel as a fine art medium
3. Plan programs
4. Create by-laws
5. Choose a name and logo. To be an IAPS Member the word “pastel” must be in the society’s name.
6. Set up a bank account
7. Establish an address, preferably a P.O. Box under the society name
8. Develop a Society website
II. BECOMING A MEMBER SOCIETY OF IAPS
Requirements:
• Must have a minimum of 10 dues paying members
• Executive Committee must have 4 positions, President, Vice President, Secretary, and Treasurer.
• Society name must contain the word "pastel"
• Societies must be not-for-profit
• Have as it primary purpose the advancement and recognition of the use of pastels as a fine art medium.
• Sponsor or conduct at least one art exhibition or competition each year limited to works rendered in
pastels, whether or not such exhibitors or contestants are restricted to membership in the particular society
or association.
A. Register with the International Association of Pastel Societies by contacting the Membership Chair to
register the name of the Society, your officers, and their contact information (address, email, phone).
Membership Chair will provide online access information and password to setup your new society
B. Pay Membership Dues
• All Member Societies dues are $150.00 per year
• Dues are to be paid in January each year. They are to be paid online.
III. IAPS MEMBER SOCIETY PRIVILEGES
A. Vote to fill vacancies on the Board of Directors of IAPS when requested.
B. Vote on all questions submitted by the Board of Directors of IAPS.
C. Submit names of candidates to be Directors of IAPS
D. Listing on the IAPS Member Society Directory and Map
E. A Society Showcase page, displaying up to three member paintings
F. Post your National Exhibition Calls for Entry on the IAPS website - including a link to your Prospectus
G. Post your Society-sponsored workshops on the IAPS website
H. Communication and networking opportunities with pastel artists from around the world!
IV. INDIVIDUAL MEMBERS OF IAPS MEMBER SOCIETY MAY:
A. Participate in various activities conducted by IAPS at the Biennial Convention such as
workshops, exhibitions, demonstrations, etc.
B. All IAPS members are eligible to submit artwork for jury in all IAPS Exhibitions including:
– online, gallery, museum, and convention shows.
C. Individual members of member societies may list IAPS membership on their resumes.
D. Individual members of member societies who have achieved their Master Circle or Eminent Pastelist
status may use IAPS/MC or IAPS/EP after their name.
E. Attend the Biennial Convention at a discounted rate.

Fritz Engelhardt Wer macht mit?Vereinsmeierei ist nicht das Ziel, sondern künstlerische Weiterentwicklung durch Workshops, Pastell Präsentationen und kulturellem Austausch. Mir geht es auch nicht um einen Posten - ich werde ich August 80 Jahre alt - dazu müssen jüngere Kräfte in die erste Reihe. Mir geht es einfach darum festzustellen, ob sich in unserer medialen Welt auch noch Menschen finden, die Freude am gemeinsamen Gestalten und kreativen Schaffen haben. Ich finde es einfach bedauerlich, dass es keine Deutsche Pastell Gilde (oder wie immer man es nennen will) neben so vielen anderen Gemeinschaften gibt.Signatur
Wenn kein Interesse besteht, begebe ich mich wieder auf "Wanderung und Freiluftmalerei". MfG Fritz EngelhardtGast , 3 Pastell Gildealso ich deine Idee gant interessant, ich liebe pastell, die farben sind in diesem sommer ja auch wieder angesagt! das ganze mit workshops zu verbinden und sich "real" auszutauschen ist auch wichtig, aber vielleicht suchst du dann hier nicht die richtige Zielgruppe. wünsche aber viel erfolg.Fritz Engelhardt Wer macht mit oder besser noch wer bringt sich mit ein.Hi Litill, meine Absicht ist es erst einmal festzustellen, wer überhaupt Interesse hat, Mitglied in einer deutschen Künstlergemeinschaft zu werden, die Bildgestaltung und Malerei mit Pastellpigmenten in den Mittelpunkt stellt. Stellt sich heraus, dass die Anzahl viel zu gering ist, muss ich die Initiative als gescheitert ansehen.
